Hi everyone! One of the reasons why a new year is always exciting to me is because a new year means lots and lots of new books, and looking at my Goodreads 2019-releases shelf, it looks like 2019 is going to be an especially great year book-wise. I can’t wait!
Like probably most book bloggers you follow I also wanted to make a “most anticipated 2019 releases”-list, but I didn’t want to share all of the books I’m anticipating for the year in one go. Why? Well, because 1) I’m not sure if I’m completely up-to-date on everything coming out in the second half of the year, 2) the list would be WAY too long. I felt like splitting it up into 4 parts, all covering 3 months, would be a better plan for me. That way it feels a little more organized, and I’m more sure about the fact that I’m not missing a lot of books. So, today I’m going to share the books I’m most anticipating for January, February and March!
Our Year of Maybe by Rachel Lynn Solomon – This book was already very high on my most-anticipated list since it explores friendship in a very unique way, but then I started reading the reviews my friends posted of it and now I want to grab a big cup of tea, a blanket, my e-reader and start it right away.
Firestarter by Tara Sim – I’m terrified of this book. It’s the third book in the Timekeeper trilogy and after how the second book ended… I’m not ready. At all.
The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi – I haven’t been that into fantasy lately so this book wasn’t on my list originally, but everyone on Twitter is talking about how amazing it is, and one of my friends told me it includes one of my favorite tropes (found family) so… of course I want to read it.
The Love & Lies of Rukhsana Ali by Sabina Khan – We need a lot more religious queer rep, so seeing a book centering a queer Muslim girl makes me incredibly happy! I have a feeling I’m going to cry a lot while reading this one, though…
On the Come Up by Angie Thomas – I mean, it’s Angie Thomas! What more explanation do you need? (Also, I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this and it’s absolutely incredible. She’s done it again.)
The Weight of Our Sky by Hanna Alkaf – I don’t think I’ll be able to read this book because it sounds way too triggering for me, but I wanted to include it anyway because it sounds amazing and it deserves so much more hype. Please look into this book, y’all!
Watch Us Rise by Renée Watson and Ellen Hagan – I loved Renée Watson’s Piecing Me Together, and the synopsis of this one sounds brilliant.
Comics Will Break Your Heart by Faith Erin Hicks – I’m a sucker for a cute contemporary and I adore comics, so of course this book had to be on this list.
Last of Her Name by Jessica Khoury – Anastasia set in space? Yes, please! Plus, I adored Jessica Khoury’s The Forbidden Wish so I’m super excited to read more of her work.
You Asked For Perfect by Laura Silverman – Laura Silverman is one of my favorite authors, so when I got an e-ARC of this book I immediately started reading it and… I adored it. A lot.
Ruse by Cindy Pon – This is the sequel to Want, one of my most loved science-fiction books ever (not that I’ve read very many but still) and I cannot wait for this to come out! I’ll probably end up picking this up on the release date.
Internment by Samira Ahmed – This book is so incredibly important and I really want everyone (who’s able to) to read it.
Small Town Hearts by Lillie Vale – This book sounds absolutely adorable, and I’m even more excited about it because my friend Lili loves it a lot and I 100% trust her recommendations.
The Mighty Heart of Sunny St. James by Ashley Herring Blake – Ashley Herring Blake is an auto-buy author for me, and I’m especially anticipating this because I read and absolutely loved Ivy Aberdeen’s Letter to the World, Ashley’s other middle grade novel, a few months ago.
So, those are my most anticipated releases for these next 3 months! I’m planning on posting my next “most anticipated releases” post somewhere in March so keep an eye out for that. And please let me know what book you’re anticipating the most for this year, I’d love to know!
