Quiz: Which Diverse Contemporary 2018 Release Should You Read This Summer?

(For anyone who just wants to do the quiz and not read anything, you can find it here)

Hi everyone! Ever since I made the ‘What Queer Comic Should You Read Next?’-quiz I’ve been thinking about making a new one, because while it takes a whole lot of work, it’s a lot of fun. And since it’s summer I thought doing a ‘which diverse contemporary 2018 release should you read this summer’-quiz (wow, that’s a real mouthful) would be a good idea.

I know a lot of people (including myself) really like reading contemporaries when the weather gets warmer, but there have been so many amazing contemporary releases this year that you might not know where to start. Well, I’m here to help!

I’m still way too cheap toy pay for a version of WordPress that allows you to use plug-ins that would fancily display the quiz here. But if you click here, you will be transported right to it! I hope you’ll enjoy it!

I truly adored every single one of these books, so you really can’t go wrong with any of the results! If you want to know what the book’s about, just click on the title and it’ll take you straight to the Goodreads page.

Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding
Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann
Puddin’ by Julie Murphy

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo
I Was Born For This by Alice Oseman
American Panda by Gloria Chao

From Twinkle, With Love by Sandhya Menon
The Brightsiders by Jen Wilde
The Way You Make Me Feel by Maurene Goo

A Few More Recs

Like I said, there were quite a lot of amazing diverse YA contemporary releases this year. I wasn’t able to get to every single one of them, but I did want to include a few of the books that my friends have been raving about in this post. I wasn’t able to include these in the quiz, because I had no idea which of the answers would go with these books. Sorry about that.

Anger is a Gift by Mark Oshiro
The Girl and the Grove by Eric Smith
Tyler Johnson Was Here by Jay Coles
The Astonishing Color of After Emily X.R. Pan
Running With Lions by Julian Winters
The Beauty That Remains by Ashley Woodfolk

I truly hope you enjoyed the quiz! Please let me know the result you got in the comments!

I can’t believe you’re making me choose between Jake and Rosa AGAIN ://///

I did it twice with slightly different answers and I got I Was Born For This both times, so I guess that’s a sign 😀

  2. Mar @ Inked Margins zegt:

I got Let’s Talk About Love, a book that’s super high on my TBR!! It took me so long to decide on my favorite B99 character. Thank you for making this!!

  3. Ilsen Leon zegt:

Omg this is such a fun quiz and it was actually hard picking the answers (except for the song because I’m a Swiftie so obviously I picked my girl Taylor). But I got The Way You Make Me Feel by Maurene Goo and I’m so excited to read that one! I still need to get it though! Please make more of these fun quizzes!
